Why Does the Installer Say My Processor Is Unsupported?

Before copying any files, the AI Producer Studio installer checks your device. If the check fails you see a Checking requirements screen saying Installation cannot continue, with two lines, Manufacturer and Processor, and one of them marked Unsupported.

What the two lines mean

  • Manufacturer: Unsupported means the device is not HP branded. AI Producer Studio is licensed to run on HP AI PCs only.
  • Processor: Unsupported means the processor in your device is not one of the supported models.

Check your processor name

Open Settings > System > About and read the Processor line, or press Ctrl+Shift+Esc for Task Manager and look at the Performance tab. Then compare it against the supported list in What Systems Support AI Producer Studio?

As a quick test, an Intel processor name must begin Intel Core Ultra, and an AMD processor name must include Ryzen AI. A processor named only "Ryzen", such as Ryzen 5 240, is a different product line and is not supported.

Your PC can have an NPU and still be unsupported

This is the most common surprise. Many recent laptops include a neural processing unit, and Windows will happily report it. AI Producer Studio needs an NPU rated at 40 TOPS or higher, which is a much smaller set of processors. Earlier chip generations include NPUs well below that rating, so Windows can show you a working NPU on a device the installer still rejects. The installer is checking the rating, not merely whether an NPU exists.

A discrete graphics card does not change this. The work runs on the NPU, so even a high-end NVIDIA or AMD graphics card will not make an unsupported processor supported.

Before you conclude your device is unsupported

Start by installing the latest version from aiproducerstudio.com. The installer checks your processor against a list of recognised models that is built into it. New processors reach the market faster than that list is updated, so a processor that genuinely meets the requirements can be reported as unsupported simply because the build you are running does not know about it yet. Installing the current version is the quickest way to rule that out.

If your processor name passes the naming test above, meaning it begins Intel Core Ultra or includes Ryzen AI, and the current installer still rejects it, please tell us. That is the case we most want to hear about, because it usually means our list needs updating rather than that your device falls short.

If your processor really is not on the list

There is no workaround, and this is not something a driver update or a Windows update can change. The requirement is the physical NPU in the processor, so the only route to running AI Producer Studio is a device with a supported processor.

If you believe your processor is on the supported list and the installer still rejects it, contact support@aiproducer.com. Include a screenshot of the Checking requirements screen and the full processor name exactly as it appears in Settings, since that lets us tell a genuine mismatch from a reporting problem straight away.
