What Systems Support AI Producer Studio?

AI Producer Studio runs on HP AI PCs only, and it needs a specific class of processor. Three things must all be true:

  • An HP device. The installer checks the manufacturer.
  • Windows 11.
  • A processor with a neural processing unit (NPU) rated at 40 TOPS or higher. This is the requirement that most often catches people out, and it is explained below.

The quick way to tell

Open Settings > System > About and read the Processor line. Then:

  • Intel: the name must begin Intel Core Ultra.
  • AMD: the name must include Ryzen AI. A processor named only "Ryzen", such as Ryzen 5 240, belongs to a different product line and is not supported, even if it has an NPU.

That test will tell you the answer in most cases. The exact supported models are listed below.

Your PC can have an NPU and still not qualify

Many recent laptops include an NPU, and Windows reports it correctly. AI Producer Studio needs one rated at 40 TOPS or higher, which is a much smaller set of processors. Earlier chip generations include NPUs well below that rating, so Windows can show a working NPU on a device the installer rejects. Both things are true at the same time: the NPU is real, and it is not fast enough.

A discrete graphics card does not change the answer

AI Producer Studio does its work on the NPU, not the graphics card. A powerful discrete GPU, such as an NVIDIA RTX card, will not make an unsupported processor supported.

One model line can ship with different processors

HP sells many model lines in several configurations. Finding your model name on a list of eligible HP devices does not by itself mean your particular unit qualifies, because two laptops with the same model name can carry different processors. The processor in your machine is what decides it, so check the processor name against the lists below.

The lists below are current as of the latest release of AI Producer Studio. New processors appear regularly, and one can meet the requirements before we have added it here, so a processor missing from these lists is not automatically ruled out. If yours passes the naming test above but does not appear below, contact us and we will confirm it for you.
